MYRTLE GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH 5920 Lillian Highway, Pensacola, FL 32506 – 850-455-7389 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING ON July 30, 2014 The   regular   business   meeting   was   held   on   July   30,   2014,   at   6:00pm.      The   meeting   was   held   in   the   fellowship   hall   and   was opened in prayer. CLERK’S   BUSINESS:      Bonnie   Quinley   presented   the   minutes   of   the   June   18,   2014   Regular   Business   Meeting   as   printed   in   the   July Business   Meeting   package.      Motion   to   approve   by   George   Butler   and   seconded   by   Morgan   Miller.      APPROVED   by   show   of hands.  Requests for Letters of church membership:   for   June None New members to be approved:  for June   Profession   of   Faith:      Patricia   Martinez,   Robin   Taylor,   Ashley   Lynch,   Loris   Clark,   Emily   Dyson,   Carrie   Thurber,   Steven   Fell,   Fabian Espinosa, Griffin Paul, Joshua Gideons, Lanessa Berry Statement of Faith:   Patricia Dalton, Megan Berry Letter:   None Motion to approve by Burt Lampley and seconded by Paul Sauls.  APPROVED  by show of hands.  TREASURER’S   REPORT:    Richard   Main   presented   the   Financial   Report   for   June   as   presented   in   the   July   Business   Meeting package.      Comment:      Richard   Main:   We   are   doing   quite   well.      We   made   94%   of   our   budget   for   the   month   of   June.      I   realize   that we   are   at   the   end   of   the   month   of   July   and   we   are   looking   at   the   June   budget   report.      But   with   our   expenses   for   the   month   of June,   we   came   out   with   a   plus   of   over   $15,000   due   to   reduction   of   expenses.      We   still   have   a   $38,000   deficit   on   our   yearly budget   that   has   been   collected   so   far   since   January   1,   2014   until   now.      Our   budget   goal   for   July   was   $68,900   and   we   actually brought in $81,200 so we are above our requirements for June.   Question:  Cheryl Stacey:  Are we financially clear with the Samaritan's Purse?  Answer:      Richard   Main:      Yes,   they   have   a   set   amount   per   week   that   they   reimburse   for   while   they   were   here.      It   was   $800   per week.  They were here six weeks and they sent us a check for $4,800.00. COMMITTEE REPORTS:  Committee-on   Committees:      John   Bonelli   presented   the   following   recommendation   from   the   committee   that   Don   Whiddon   be added to the Counting Committee to fill a vacancy.  APPROVED by show of hands. OLD BUSINESS:  None NEW BUSINESS:  The   Student   Minister   Search   Commmittee:   Pastor   Ron   Lintine:      Tina   Brock   served   as   chairperson   for   the   Student   Minister Search   Committee   that   was   elected   by   the   church   to   begin   the   process   of   finding   God's   person   to   fill   the   Student   Minsiter position.      Paul   Sauls   represented   the   Personnel   Committee.      Our   chairman   is   out   of   town   so   Paul   will   be   giving   the   official recommendation.      Horace   Nealy   was   deacon   liaison   for   The   Student   Minister   Search   Committee   and   the   Personnel   Committee.     He   also   did   a   lot   of   the   interviewing   process.      Tony   McFarlane   represented   the   Deacons   and   Yokefellows.      The   recommendation comes     in     unanimous     support     from     The     Student     Minister     Search     Committee,     the     Personnel     Committee,     and     the Deacons/Yokefellows body.  Tina    Brock,    Horace    Nealy,    and    Tony    McFarlane    shared    testimonies    about    God's    work    in    this    process.        They    all    highly recommended   Walt   Magaha   as   a   fulltime   Student   Minister   for   Myrtle   Grove   Baptist   Church.      They   all   feel   that   he   is   the   person God has sent to fill this position.  Paul   Sauls   presented   on   behalf   of   the   Student   Minister   Search   Committee,   The   Deacon/Yokefellow   Body   and   the   Personnel Committee   that   Myrtle   Grove   Baptist   Church   hire   James   Walter   (Walt)   Magaha   as   a   fulltime   Student   Minister   for   a   total   salary package   of   $40,000.00   annually.      APPROVED    by   show   of   hands.      The   vote   was   taken   by   secret   ballot   and   was   approved   by   96% of the ballots (83 in favor and 6 against). Walt's starting employment date will be August 11, 2014. Tony   McFarlane   made   a   recommendation   that   Walt   Magaha   be   ordained   by   Myrtle   Grove   Baptist   Church.      Morgan   Miller seconded the recommendation.  APPROVED  by show of hands.   Question :  Freddie Zayas:  Has Walt requested to become a member of our church?  Answer:   Pastor Ron Lentine:  That will be automatic.  Deacon/Yokefellow   Body:   John    Bonelli   presented   the   following   recommendation:      The   Deacons   and   Yokefellows   of   Myrtle Grove   Baptist   Church   recommend   the   following   men   to   serve   as   deacons   or   yokefellows   beginning   September   1,   2014.      They will   serve   for   (3)   three   years.      Bill   Crouch,   yokefellow,   Roland   Koomen,   yokefellow,   Ron   Lowe,   yokefellow,   Kevin   Simmons, deacon, Robert Smith, deacon, Kevin Williams, deacon, and Rondall Youmans, deacon.  Vote was taken by ballot.  ANNOUNCEMENTS:  ADJOURNMENT:  Motion to adjourn by Richard Main and seconded by Betty Scurlock.  APPROVED  by show of hands.  _____________________________ ____________________________ Bonnie Quinley, Church Clerk Ron Lentine, Moderator
